How the Hall of Fame started

Art Amick, now deceased, of Lewisburg was a track star for Bedford in the 1930s. Every time he came back to Bedford he would call me (Bill Creps) and ask if I would start a Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame. I kept putting it off until one day, about two years ago, when I was playing golf with Jeff Batzel at Down River. I asked Jeff if he would help me start a sports hall of fame. Jeff, who is the athletic director at Northern Bedford, said that he would help. The wheels were set in motion and we made several calls. The first to respond were Dwane Gochnour, Jim Calhoun, and Bob Foor all from Everett, Terry Diehl from Bedford, Doctor Jeff Territo from Tussey Mountain, and Lew Ewart from Northern Bedford.

The meetings are open to the public and the time and place are put in the Bedford Gazette. The board is open to names that the public feels are worthy of consideration for the Hall of Fame.
