Kali Byers is one of the most successful softball players
to come out of Bedford County.

The 2002 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School was a
three-sports athlete in soccer, basketball, and softball. She lettered for four years in softball and three years in soccer and basketball

She was the MVP for the basketball team her junior year.

In softball, Byers was the MVP for the Lady Lions her
junior and senior years. and was a Bedford Gazette All-Star in
her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was a power-
hitting third baseman, who was an honorable mention all-state
selection in 2000.

She was also named a Keystone State Games Athlete Award of Honor in 2001, and she played travel softball with the Jackson Jazz from 1999 to 2002.

She earned a scholarship to attend Robert Morris University and play softball from 2002 to 2006.

Byers was inducted into the Robert Morris Athletic Hall of Fame with the following statement: “The premier power hitter in Robert Morris softball history.”

Byers owned career school records for home runs (35), RBI (144) and walks (101). Byers started at third base and helped lead the Colonials to the 2005 Northeast Conference regular-season championship with a record of 17-3 (.850).

As the No. 1 seed in the 2005 NEC Tournament, Robert Morris claimed the title and the program’s first berth in the NCAA Tournament. RMU also earned a share of the 2006 NEC
regular-season title with Byers as a senior. In 2005, Byers established a single-season school record with 51 RBI, including a single-game record seven in a 13-4 win over Wagner in the
second game of a doubleheader sweep May 8, 2005.

Her 11 home runs as a sophomore in 2003 is also the Robert Morris single-season record.
Named the 2003 NEC Rookie of the Year, she earned All-NEC honors each of her four years with
the program, including first team honors twice (2004, 2006) and second team accolades twice (2003, 2005).

She was also an assistant coach for softball and basketball at Everett High School.
