Jamie Eichelberger
Everett’s Jamie Eichelberger was a powerful, 2-sport athlete that
graduated from Everett High School in 1995.
In high school football, he had a tremendous senior campaign in
helping the Warriors to an 8-3 record. He was named Associated
Press First Team Small School All-State team as a running back.
He rushed 2,248 yards and scored 30 touchdowns including
averaging over 8 yards per carry. Eichelberger scored 200 points that year including 3 on returns, while throwing for another touchdown. He had 13 career interceptions over his career.
During that season, he had several games of note including a
45-yard carry, 199-yard effort against Mount Union as well as rushing for 309 yards on 23 carries in a 4-touchdown effort against Williamsburg. He also had 282 yards and 4 touchdowns against Claysburg. Those games were all in a row giving him 790 yards rushing in 3 games.
The previous summer, Eichelberger became just the fourth Bedford County American Legion player to advance to the Pa. American Legion All-Star game joining Mike Ickes, Troy Ritchey, and Bob Foor.
He had also set a school record for hits in a season with 42 at Everett as a junior. That helped catch the eyes of college scouts, and in his senior year, he committed to play baseball at Penn State.
He garnered all-county awards in 1994 and 1995.
Eichelberger’s senior year, he batted .500 with 30 hits, 26 runs, 30 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs.
Eichelberger had a change of heart as he transferred from Penn State to Shippensburg University.
He was moved to first base and was named to the PSAC Eastern Division Second Team in 1998 and was a first-team selection in 2000. He was a 4-year starter and was a captain his senior year.
In his senior year, he led Shippensburg with a .410 batting average with 64 hits, 50 runs, 11 doubles, 3 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and 24 RBIs. He also led the Raiders in runs, hits, and stolen bases that year while breaking the school’s career home run record with 25.
He was named to the second team of the American Baseball Coaches Association All Region team for the North Atlantic Region.
Eichelberger is a teacher at Everett Elementary and has coached baseball at both Tussey Mountain and Everett. He is now coaching youth football and baseball.
