One of the great local golfers of recent times is Tracey Smith.
Smith is a 1982 graduate from Everett High School, who participated in golf and baseball.
He was the District 5 champion in 1979 and was the captain of the 1981 team that went undefeated. During that season, he was the runner-up at the prestigious Dr. Wheeling Tournament in Johnstown.
He kept with golf after high school and has been a mainstay at Down River Country Club as both a worker and golfer. He is the Pro Shop Manager now and has had been very successful at golfing at many of the area courses.
He has the Down River course record of 62, which he shot in 2003 during the club championship.
Smith has won 20 Down River Club Championships as well as a plethora of other accolades including:
- 2000 Iron Masters Classic Champion
- 2008 Mt. Union June Invitational Champion
- Shot a two-day score of 129 to win the 2014 Down River Club River Championship.
- 2018 Central Counties Golf Association Senior Individual Champion
- 2021 Pennsylvania Senior Amateur at the York County Club (tied for 8th place out of 108 golfers)
- 2021- at the age of 57, won his 20th club championship. This victory was dedicated to his brother Kelly, who passed away earlier that year.
- 20-time Down River Club Champion (38 straight years in the top 3 of Club Championship
tournaments)
- 2-time Central Counties Golf Association Individual Champion
- 4-time Central Counties Golf Association 2-Man Better Ball Champion
- 4-time Champion of the Down River Golf Course Invitational, including five runners-up
