SEASON RECAP  9-0-1

Northern Bedford 14   Southern Huntingdon 8

NB broke an 8-8 deadlock in Orbisonia with a 98 yard fourth quarter drive that culminated with a 4 yd. pass from Joe Wachter to Don Foor to give NB a 14-8 win.  Southern deep into Panther territory in the final minute but a Norman Dick interception squelched Coach Ted Nypaver's comeback attempt.

Northern Bedford 22   Juniata Valley 0
Slotback Don Foor scored all three Panther TD's, 2 on passes from Joe Wachter and LB Wayne "Wheedle" Wright nailed the Hornets QB for a safety on a sack to propel NB to a home win over the Hornets.

Northern Bedford 12   Tussey Mountain 12
NB came back from a 6-0 halftime deficit to score in both the 3rd and 4th quarters to take a 12-6 lead in Saxton.  Fred Glasgow and Joe Wachter scored the Panther TD s.  However, TM scored with 4:20 left to tie the game before Zan Browell plunged through the Titan line to block the potentially game winning PAT kick.

Northern Bedford 58  Chestnut Ridge 6
Fred Glasgow ran for 280 yards on 30 carries and scored 6 TDs as NB ran roughshod over Chestnut Ridge in a Saturday afternoon game at Fishertown.  DL Mike Dick got a safety for the Panthers only defensive score.

Northern Bedford 50   Williamsburg 12
A now completely healthy Fred Glasgow ravaged the Blue Pirate defense for 238 yards and 4 TD s before a home crowd at the Roaring Spring Athletic Field to lead NB to a route over Williamsburg.  Mike Dick rambled 34 yards with a blocked punt just before the half for a Panther defensive score.

Northern Bedford 45   Claysburg 18  - Glasgow ran for over 200 yards for the third straight game and Wachter was 7-8 passing including 3 TDs to lead NB to a Saturday night road win at Claysburg.  Don Foor had two of Wachters TD aerials and the fleet footed QB also scored 2 rushing TD s in the win.

Northern Bedford 49   Berlin 12  - Glasgow had consecutive 200+ yard game #4 and scored 5 rushing TDs as NB romped over visiting Berlin.  Wayne Wright recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for another Panther defensive score.

Northern Bedford 48   Everett 6
NB opened the game with an 89 yard Joe Wachter to Don Foor TD strike and Glasgow rambled for 280 yards as NB scored the first 48 points in this route.  Panther fullback Nevin Sollenberger had 2 TD runs for the Panthers.

Northern Bedford 49   Shade 30
It was a record breaking night for the Panthers.  Fred Glasgow set a new state single game rushing record with his 414 yard performance on just 25 carries and his 1,905 yards for the year is also a state record.  Glasgow is just 79 yards from Woody Petchel's state career rushing record.  Don Foor broke Jesse Reighard's record for yards receiving in a season late in the game also. Nevin Sollenberger had two interceptions and OG Bill Brown got an opportunity to run the ball and scored on a 3 yard run.

PLAYOFF @ Altoona
Northern Bedford 7   Tussey Mountain 6
Joe Wachter found Norman Dick uncovered in the end zone with :17 remaining and then booted the extra point to give NB a thrilling 7-6 victory over Tussey in a special league playoff game at Altoona s Mansion Park before an estimated crowd of 7,000.  NB had threatened early driving inside TM's 10 but a Wachter field goal was wide.  Again, with 6-minutes left NB got to the Tussey 10 yard line but turned the ball over on downs.  Glasgow picked up 157 yards to eclipse the 2,000 yard mark for the season and surpassed the state career rushing record with his performance.
