Class of 2013
       Floyd Robinette

Floyd Robinette graduated from Replogle High School in New Enterprise in 1954. Floyd was a star football player at Replogle H.S. under Head Coach Andy Radi. Radi’s Raiders finished the 1953 campaign with an 9-1 record and Robinette was their star player. Robinette was the talk of Bedford County in 1953 as he was Replogle’s Blanket Award Winner and received All-Bedford County All-Star accolades. He gained statewide notoriety with an 80 yard punt, believed to be the best ever in the state at that time, against Roaring Spring High School.

“The Tank”, as he was nicknamed, had several college opportunities presented to him but elected to go to Shippensburg State after graduation. At Shippensburg he earned a starting position on the line part way through the season and was one of only six freshman letter winners for the Red Raiders.

Floyd enlisted in the Navy after his Freshman year and was stationed at Bainbridge, Md. Naval Base. Bainbridge was one of several military bases at that time that played a big-time football schedule and Floyd not only was on the team for two years, but started and served as team captain in 1956. After obtaining training as a Radar man and completing Petty Officer training, Floyd accepted a scholarship offer to play College Football at Montana State.

At Montana State, Floyd lined up as the starting right tackle beside former Bainbridge teammate and Honorable Mention All-American Charles Jackson. Robinette and Jackson, along with 3-time All-American Center Sonny Holland, formed the nucleus of a line that would lead MSU to its fine record and a 22-13 win over Montana in the Battle of the Wild in Bozeman.

Floyd will be represented at tonight’s banquet by his children John, Steve, and Nancy and their families.
