Larry Zimmerman

Larry Zimmerman was a 1959 Saxton Liberty High School graduate who excelled in football and track. He was the starting quarterback on the high school gridiron both his junior and senior years in high school. He earned a partial scholarship to attend Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster.

Zimmerman, who graduated from Stevens in 1962, was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments as a superior athlete in football, wrestling, and track and field when he was inducted into the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

While at Stevens, he earned three letters in both football and track while getting two in wrestling. He also coordinated all intramural sports during his three year at Stevens while majoring in architecture.

Zimmerman was a starter all three years at Stevens. He threw 25 touchdown passes as the quarterback, and he added seven interceptions while playing defensive back. He was the co-captain his senior year and received the Outstanding Athlete Award.

In his two years of wrestling, he won 19 matches while losing only two, and those matches were to Navy and Penn State. He was also named the Outstanding Wrestler at two tournaments.

Zimmerman was also on the track and field team, competing in the javelin, the discus, and the 440-yard dash.

After graduating from Stevens in 1962, he went on to Penn State where he earned his engineering degree. He was the project manager for Glace and Glace Architects from 1962-96. In 1996, he became CEO of the company until his untimely passing in 2013 at the age of 72.
