Ken Bussard
Class of 2014
Ken Bussard, a 1974 graduate of Northern Bedford County High School, played for the Panthers during the 1970-73 seasons, winning three varsity letters as a two-way tackle. The Black Panthers compiled a 31-6-1 during those four years.
During the 1973 campaign, Northern Bedford finished as the first unbeaten team in school history. That squad earned championships in the Mountain League, West Penn League, Inter-County Conference, and Western Conference.
Individual honors included being named to the All-Star teams of Bedford County, Inter-County Conference, Cambria Area Football Coaches Association, and the Ken Lantzy Charity Game.
Ken was awarded a scholarship to Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where he played defensive tackle and earned three varsity letters.
He began his teaching and coaching career at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, New Jersey, in 1978. Coach Bussard landed a teaching position in the English department at Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg in 1980, where he also joined the football staff as a varsity assistant under Chuck Gironda, his previous high school football coach.
Ken assumed the head coaching duties at Central Cambria in 1985 through the 2011 season. During that time, he also served as the school’s guidance counselor and eventually became the high school principal.
His teams compiled a record 146-99-1, which is the most wins by a football coach in Central Cambria history. In addition, his teams won two District 6 titles and appeared in the PIAA Western Semifinals once.

2012 - Marine Corps Rivalry Series Hall of Fame Award
2005 - Southern Alleghenies Football Coach Scholarship Award
2000 - Coached in the Big 33 Football Classic
2000 - District 6 Coach of the Year
1995 - Southern Alleghenies Coach of the Year
1995 - Johnstown Tribune-Democrat Coach of the Year
He also coached in seven Ken Lantzy All-Star Games.
