Jeff Clark

Jeffrey L. Clark is the son of the late Paul and Bev Clark. Jeff started wrestling in kindergarten, and at the elementary level, he attended and travelled to tournaments with elementary coach Fred Karns and his sons, who would eventually become his in-laws.
In the seventh and eighth grades, he wrestled under coach Mike Shippey.
He moved up to the varsity level in ninth grade for the 1984-85 season and was coached by head coach Jim Droz. He had a dual record of 15-1.
Over the next 3 years of varsity, he was coached by Doug Brumbaugh. Jeff was a 4-year letterman and a 3-year team captain. He was a 2-time District 5 champion, and he was a regional champion in 1987 and was third in 1988. At states, he placed sixth in 1987 and was eighth in 1988.
Jeff finished his career with a 110-15 record, and he was inducted into the District 5 Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2021.
Wrestling was not the only sport in which Jeff participated. He played football from elementary through varsity, and football was his first love. In his senior year, he broke the school record for rushing yards with 1,885 yards, a mark that stood for years.
Bedford football coach Dean McGee nominated Jeff for the Big 33 game as a running back, but Jeff could not participate because he had signed a national letter of intent to wrestle at the Virginia Military Institute.
Jeff also was on the track and field team at Everett, and his relay team qualified for states that year at Shippensburg University.
Jeff received the Wise Family Scholarship to attend VMI. His junior year, he qualified for nationals and was ranked 19th in the nation. He could not wrestle in his fifth year, so he walked on to the football team and played on special teams. Jeff said that he loved it, had a fun time, and had no pressure as he just went out there and had fun.
After college, Jeff started coaching sports at Everett. He was an assistant defensive coach under head coach Craig Waite starting in 1993. He was also an assistant with coach Droz on the varsity wrestling team from 1993-1997. He was also an assistant junior high coach under coach Howard Hinish. He was also a volunteer elementary coach from 1997 to 200.
After taking a break from coaching, he returned as a volunteer elementary football and wrestling coach through 2012.
After college, Jeff works on the bridge crew for NESCO for 6 years before switching to working with fiber optics for several different companies over the next 8 years. Since 2007, he has worked with Embridge Gas Transmissions in Bedford.
He married Kelly (Karns), and they have 3 grown children, Ethan, Lachel, and Shane, as well as 3 grandchildren, Stacy, Ashelyn, and Griffin.
